Waikīkī Steel Guitar Week, incorporating the Japan-Hawaiian Steel Guitar Festival and the Waikīkī Steel Guitar Festival, is a week-long event celebrating Hawaiian music and the Hawaiian steel guitar. The event is presented free to the public by the Royal Hawaiian Center and is produced by the Hawaii Institute for Music Enrichment and Learning Experiences (HIMELE™). Parking is available in the Royal Hawaiian Center parking lot. Visitors can get one-hour free parking with a $10 purchase validated at any center merchant. Kamaʻāina and Military can get 3-hours free parking with $10 purchase and validation available ONLY at Helumoa Hale Guest Services desk (located between Buildings B and C, Level 1), from 11 AM through 8 PM. Japan-Hawaiian Steel Guitar Festival and the Waikīkī Steel Guitar Festival
July 8-13, 2024 at Royal Hawaiian Grove
- Monday through Thursday evening concerts from 5-6PM will feature performances by different Hawaiian steel guitar artists and ensembles.
- Friday afternoon from 2:30 PM to 6:30 PM features steel guitarists from Japan.
- Saturday ho‘olaule‘a performances from 11:00 AM – 2:20 PM and 4:00 PM – 6:30 PM. The split program is designed to provide festival guests a break between the festival program and avoid what might be the hottest part of the afternoon. The program will feature various Hawaiian steel guitar artists and bands.
- Livestream: Friday’s Japan-Hawaiian Steel Guitar Festival and Saturday’s Waikīkī Steel Guitar Festival programs will be livestreamed on Facebook: Hawaiian Steel Guitar Showcase and YouTube: Hawaiian Steel Guitar Showcase. All past livestreams are archived for demand viewing.
