Children’s Day, also known as “Kodomo no Hi” is celebrated in Japan on May 5th of every year. Formerly known as “Boy’s Day,” the national holiday is meant to celebrate and honor children. It is associated with traditions such as hanging colorful koi decorations, displaying Japanese warrior dolls, and modeling samurai armor. Library staff will be demonstrating how to fold Children’s Day themed origami. Skill level is basic to intermediate. After the demonstration, attendees will be allowed to fold what ever origami creation they would like, time permitting. Space is limited. Please call 808-586-3529 to reserve a spot.
