The MLK Celebration Parade and Rally in Waikīkī begins at Magic Island and travels on Kalākaua Avenue through Waikīkī to Kapiʻolani Park. A Unity Rally follows at the Kapiʻolani Park Bandstand. The Hawaii Martin Luther King, Jr. Coalition the holiday through remembrance, celebration, and action. It is a time to reflect upon the principles of interracial cooperation, equality, and social change through nonviolent resolution of conflict, dedication to global peace, social justice, economic security, and the eradication of poverty as espoused by Dr. King.
