Cultivating Mele of Kona and the Forest is an immersive Hawaiian music experience where curated Kona-centric songs are taught, analyzed, played, and sung together by all participants. Kona’s environments are celebrated in countless mele underscoring the profound connections between kanaka (people), mele (Hawaiian songs), ʻāina (land), and mauli ola (health and well-being). The iinteractive workshops, storytelling, and group playing & singing, culminates in a hōʻike of Hawaiian Kona mele to foster community and inspire a deeper connection to Hawaiʻi’s literature, music, history, and brilliance. Bring an ʻukulele or guitar with you to play along and learn the mele of Kona! Mele books, snacks, and drinks are provided. Feel free to bring your own drinks or snacks to share.
