Growing taro (kalo) has been an important part of East Maui for generations. The annual Taro Festival celebrates the cultural staple of Kanaka Maoli, the indigenous Hawai`i people. Farmers from all over Maui come to sell plants, vegetables, flowers, and more. The festival includes taro dishes, music, hula, and cultural demonstrations.
