Hawaii Walls (formerly POW! WOW! Hawaii) is a gathering that celebrates culture, music and art. The 12th Annual Hawaii Walls Festival features street artists from Hawaii and nationwide showcasing their talents. Hawai’i Walls 2024 invites the community to discover the creative process of public art in the Kalihi and Palama communities. Background: The street art event started in 2011 in Kakaʻako as POW! WOW! Renamed in 2023 to Hawai’i Walls when more than 80 local and visiting artists painted 70 new wall murals in the neighborhoods of Kapālama Kai, Kalihi, and Pālama. It has grown into a global network of artists and organizes gallery shows, lecture series, schools for art and music, mural projects, community creative spaces and concerts. After spending nearly a decade painting the walls of Kakaʻako, it has now moved to Kalihi to beautify community centers, schools, museums, and other spaces in the neighborhood.
