Like Christmas, Easter is a Christian holy day that has also become a secular holiday celebrated by retailers and non-Christian communities around the world. Secular Easter events typically include photos with a life-size Easter bunny, spring flower bouquets, special holiday baked goods, family gatherings with lots of food, and Easter egg hunts.
In the list below, we focus on Easter egg hunts that are free or low cost or are community fundraisers.
Tips for enjoying Egg Hunts
Egg hunts are typically a free-for-all scramble for younger children, usually separated by age group. They find and collect as many eggs as possible. The eggs may be candy treats or hollow plastic ones filled with trinkets or coupons. Egg hunts are funded by municipal park departments, community donations, and/or business sponsors.
- Some require advance registration. Follow the link to check details for any event you plan to attend.
- Many egg hunts host events by age groups at different time. Follow the link to check ages and times.
- Most egg hunts are held come rain or come shine. Bunnies know they might get treated to a rain shower. But they don’t care. They want the eggs!
- Unless specifically stated otherwise, it’s usually a good idea to bring a basket or bag to collect your goodies.
