This 2-day Tahitian dance and drumming competition is a unique, exciting, and colorful festival. Participants come from Hawai`i, as well as the Continental U.S. and other overseas places. Competitors range in age from keiki to kupuna, both solo and groups. Solo competition is held on Saturday; categories include traditional otea vahine and tane, Group competition is held on Sunday; categories include otea, aparima, ahupurotu and drumming. In addition, cultural practitioners demonstrate Polynesian crafts such as weaving, carving, jewelry, and drum making. A variety of food, arts, and crafts are available for sale.
