A constant blood supply is always needed for surgeries and accidents. When a large disaster strikes, the need for blood goes up. The qualifications to be a blood donor are simple: be in good health, at least 18 years of age (no upper limit), weigh at least 110 pounds, and have a photo ID with your birth date. It is recommended to drink eight to 10 glasses of water within the 24 hours prior to your appointment, eat a healthy, hearty meal, and get adequate rest.
