During the school year, nutritious meals are available to students through federal programs. The Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) is a federal program funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) to ensure that our school children receive nutritious food throughout the summer.
The Hawaiʻi State Department of Education (HIDOE) will serve meals free of charge at select public schools throughout the state to children ages 18 and younger regardless of public school enrollment status. Schools may opt to serve breakfast only, lunch only, or both meals. Summer meals are offered for on-campus dining only; there is no grab-and-go option. F
From mid-June through mid-July participating public schools will serve meals Monday through Friday, excluding state-observed holidays on June 11 (King Kamehameha Day) and July 4 (Independence Day).
- Last day of school for students: May 30, 2024.
- Summer meal program: June 10 – July 19, 2024 (excluding holidays: June 11 and July 4).
- First day of school: August 5, 2024.
