All are welcome to experience a day in the ancient tradition of Japanese tea ceremony presented by the Urasenke Kaua’i Kyoukai tea association at the Lawai International Center. This rare opportunity is being held in the Hall of Compassion, a hand carved structure true to 13th century architecture built with the hands and hearts of masters from Asia and volunteers from Kaua’i. Soothing shakuhachi (ancient Japanese flute) music by Ray Nitta opens each session. Due to the limit of 20 seats per session, reservations are required. There is a suggested minimum donation of $40. All proceeds benefit the nonprofit Lawai International Center. Be sure to get directions to the center using the map on their website, it is not easy to find.
