Kumu Kahua Theatre (KKT) in Honolulu is having a special play reading of the late Edward Sakamoto’s “Stew Rice,” one of KKT’s most watched plays of all time! The reading will be performed by the original cast from the 1995 Season, featuring actors Karen Kaulana, Amy Nishihara, Sharon Aoki, Michael “Sun” Lee, Jason Scott Lee, and Marcus Oshiro. The evening will be hosted by masters of ceremony, KHONs Brook Lee (1997 Miss Hawaiʻi, Miss USA, and Miss Universe), and well-known local actor, writer, and director, Wil Kāhele. The event will include tributes to playwright Edward Sakamoto and director, Jim Nakamoto. and culminate with the announcement of the contest winners in the 2021 playwriting AND the upcoming 51st season productions.
