As part of its plan filed on May 28, 2021, the 10-year the United States Postal Service (USPS) outlined steps to achieve financial sustainability and service excellence. To help offset mail volume decreases over the past 10 years, the Postal Regulatory Commission (PRC) approved the plan’s proposed price changes to take effect Aug. 29, 2021, raising product and service prices by approximately 6.9%. USPS still has some of the lowest letter-mail postage rates in the industrialized world and continues to offer a great value in shipping (I’ve used the flat rate box many times this past year–it’s a great deal!). First Class “Forever Stamp” prices will increase from 55-cents to 58-cents (an increase of about 5%). So, you might want to be sure to purchase extra “Forever Stamps” before August 29 to last you through the next year and save the extra 3-cents. In particular, think ahead about greeting cards you typically send to friends and family members. Purchase those stamps now for Christmas Cards, Birthdays, and Anniversaries and any other occasions. Rumor has it, the price could increase again in October. But we don’t recommend you buy more stamps than you will use in a year, the small savings isn’t worth it.
