The public is invited to take part discussions regarding community-led improvement projects for two skate parks in Central O‘ahu. Both of these projects originated from concerns raised during Mayor Rick Blangiardi’s 2024 townhall meetings. The Parks Department appreciates the collaboration and philanthropic support that businesses and communities have provided throughout these park improvement projects.
- Tuesday, August 27, 2024 at 5:30 p.m. in the Ho‘okipa Building at George F. Wright Wahiawā District Park. The Hoʻoulu Wahiawā group is partnering with the City on the development and proposed expansion of the skate park at this historic public location. This meeting is intended to bring the relevant stakeholders together to provide information on the proposed upgrades for the skate park, while discussing other potential improvements they envision throughout the park. - Wednesday, August 28, 2024 beginning 7:30 p.m. at Mililani High School. Another community-led effort at Mililani District Park to provide lighting for the skate park is progressing. Thanks to a generous $20,000 gift from A-1 A-Lectrician, Inc. to supply the materials and labor for the installation of the lights, confirmed via City Council Resolution 24-200, the skate park is expected to have working lights by this September. With assistance from the City’s Department of Facility Maintenance and Department of Environmental Services, eight 40-foot-tall lights are scheduled to be installed at the park. As a result of this effort, the Mililani Skate Park is scheduled to be closed from September 9 – 21, 2024. More info: Wahiawā Skate Park Proposed Expansion Meeting | Facebook
