One of the few times a year that the beautiful and rustic Rinzai Zen temple is open to the public. The sale includes calligraphy, ceramics, books, and omamori (charms for luck and protection). Ceramics include wares fired in the only “Anagama” wood-fired kiln on Oahu. Chozen-ji’s annual Zen Art Show & Sale features a variety of art made by the Rinzai Zen temple’s priests and students. This year’s event theme is “Young Artists at Chozen-ji” and showcases the work of a new generation of students training in Zen and the arts. Temple tours and demonstrations of Japanese Tea Ceremony will also be available. Free but space is limited and timed entry reservations are required using their online form. You can also shop online beginning Saturday, November 4. More info: Shop Chozen-ji’s 2023 Zen Art Sale — Chozen-ji
