Master taiko drummer Kenny Endo and his Taiko Center of the Pacific ensemble will demonstrate and discuss the art of performing with taiko (Japanese drums). This unique cultural and educational program introduces drums and percussion instruments of Japan as used in traditional and contemporary music. The taiko is boundless in its expression. Kenny Endo and his ensemble have performed extensively all over the United States and throughout the world. This program is recommended for ages 5 and older. Young children must be accompanied by a parent or caregiver. Sponsored by the Friends of the Library Kapolei, this is a production of the University of Hawaiʻi at Manoa Outreach College’s Statewide Cultural Extension Program with additional funding provided by the National Endowment for the Arts, Hawaii State Foundation on Culture and the Arts, and the University of Hawaii.
