In partnership with the Honolulu Rainbow Film Festival, Bishop Museum presents a curated series of short films that bring the stories of queer Pacific Islanders to life on screen. This diverse collection of narrative and documentary shorts will make you laugh, cry, and reconsider what it means to honor culture and traditions without giving up who you are. The outdoor screening will be held on Bishop Museum’s Great Lawn and will be followed by a post-screening Q&A with filmmakers. Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and mats. No coolers, or outside food & beverages, are allowed. This program is presented in conjunction with the exhibition The Healer Stones of Kapaemahu, on view in the Castle Memorial Building through Oct. 16, 2022. The gallery will be open for viewing prior to the screening. Gallery open | 5:30-6:30 p.m. Screening + post-screening Q&A | 7-9 p.m. Please note that tickets are non-refundable. The film will be shown, rain or shine. Strollers welcome. Pre-registration is highly recommended. Walk-ins will be admitted on a space-available basis. General Admission: $15.
