Rakugo, literally meaning “story with a punchline” is a type of traditional Japanese comedy. Rakugo is similar to stand-up comedy, but the storyteller (rakugo-ka) remains seated on a raised platform. Using small accessories such as a paper fan (sensu) as a prop, the rakugo-ka tells funny, sometimes sentimental stories as he portrays multiple characters. For this show, three rakugo-ka from Japan will perform. Presented in Japanese, the show will be filmed and broadcast in Japan. This show is for ages 10 years and up. Admission is free but a coupon is required for entry. Coupons will be distributed at the Palace the day of the show. More info: EVENTS | PALACE THEATER | CURRENT (hilopalace.com)
