If you’ve ever dreamed of walking inside a whale, dream no more! Welcome back our koholā (humpback whales) to Hawaiian waters by touring Kamakai, a 38-foot-long, lifesize sub-adult humpback whale. This is Kamakai’s FIRST APPEARANCE in Waimea and you’re invited to walk inside! Learn about these gentle giants that return annually to our island waters between November and May and enjoy hands-on whale and ocean activities, including humpback whale anatomy, be a whale identification scientist, a keiki whale coloring corner and more! This event is in collaboration with National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Hawaiian Islands Humpback Whale National Marine Sanctuary (HIHWNMS).
