An evening of theater at the new Kailua Onstage Arts (KOA) performance space on Beretania in Honolulu. “An Oak Tree” is unlike anything you’ve ever seen! This darkly comic and moving play is about loss, the power of suggestion, and the magic of the mind. A parent loses a child, a stage hypnotist loses his mojo, nothing is what it is. It’s like they’re in a play – but they don’t know the words. KOA founder Kevin Keaveney is joined by a new actor each night, who walks on stage having neither seen nor read a word of the play they’re in… until they’re in it. Each night begins with a 30 minute opening act of music played by a different local musician. Each performance will be followed by a talkback in which we encourage both our guest actor and the audience to share their reflections on the experience. Presented at KOA’s new theater space, 780 Beretania St in Honolulu. Fridays-Sunday, August 6-22 (No Show Fri Aug 20, replaced with Thursday Aug 19 at 7pm). More info: https://kailuaonstagearts.com/
